The Montana Statewide Breastfeeding Coalition (MSBC) is a group
of individuals and businesses interested in promoting and
supporting breastfeeding for a healthier Montana.
Our mission is to promote collaboration, education, networking
and the exchange of consistent and accurate information in
Montana to nurture breastfeeding support, protection and
promotion in our communities.
Goals:
1) Support legislation which promotes and supports breastfeeding.
2) Support activities which provide education and training for
paraprofessionals and professionals on breastfeeding.
3) Plan at least one breastfeeding related activity per year.
4) Secure financial support to maintain a viable coalition status.

Montana Breastfeeding Coalition History
- 2006 Montana State Breastfeeding Coalition (MBSC) was initiated
- 2006 MBSC became a sub-committee of Eat Right Montana
- 2007 First Annual MBSC meeting/training occurred in Billings
- 2008 United States Breastfeeding committee (USBC) participation
- 2008 Business case for breastfeeding two-day workshop with Dr. Marion Nierfert from Colorado located in Bozeman
- 2009 MSBC became a member of USBC
- 2009 Marsha Walker telemedicine conference was held live in Billings with 5 other site locations
- 2010 Caroline Steele from California was part of the Montana Dietetic Association Preconference
- 2011 Nationwide Surgeon General's Call to Action
